Slot Machine Candy Dispenser and Bank

Slot Machine Candy Dispenser and Bank

Description

Slot Machine Candy Dispenser and Bank This project was initially created as a kit to build for my granddaughter for Christmas. The photo of the assembly is the prototype / proof of concept, and as such is a jumble of materials and colors. I have already made a number of changes and improvements, which are reflected in the files here. I foresee this project not only being a cute little gift for a young one, but also as an educational project for young upcoming makers and designers. There are a number of basic design concepts integral to the project that provide a good foundation for teaching machine design. Or, use as a model for a design challenge; prevent the students from looking under the hood and challenge them to design their own using teaching or taught design concepts. Some design criteria / concepts utilized in this project: * Calculate ratios and pocket displacements for normal distribution vs jackpot distributions. Research and procurement of required hardware, bearings, etc. Determine proper angles where appropriate. Determine proper materials. For advanced students, you could have them improve upon the design. Add an upper wheel to display jackpots, add a mechanical coin mechanism to unlock the handle, etc. (Note: this is something I am considering in an upcoming revision.) I hope you get as much fun out of printing and assembling it as I did in its design. Enjoy! 3D printing settings This project is designed for FDM printers. The included files are in STL format. I simply used the manufacturers recommendations for the filament used. I did, however, use a (.6mm) nozzle and increased the extrusion width slightly to speed up the prints. There is not much in the way of details to warrant a small nozzle, but there is no reason you can not use one if you wish.
