Vacuum Adapter for Craftsman Miter Saw
Description
This adapter allows a 1.75" vacuum hose (like I have on my DeWalt shop vac) to my old Craftsman 10" Compound Miter saw. It has a ribbed output port with an OD of the ribs being about 1.58". I based this on a design from robertd22 which was a remix of a design from svideo (both on Thingaverse). The original design from svideo was for a DeWalt Airlock connector. I noticed that my miter saw had a similar design but it was smaller, so I scaled the inner ring and outer ring from svideo to fit onto the Craftsman output and used the 1.75" vacuum adapter (44-44.5mm) from robertd22, which I also scaled, as the base for my hose adapter. I also added ribs to the hose adapter make it easier to grab for 2-handed operation. It fits great on my Craftsman miter saw which has a model number of 137.212410. Here are the assembly instructions from the original Thingaverse posting from svideo https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4512926. The outer ring should slide freely onto the inner ring, and when all the way in the top layers should be flush. If they aren't, you have the outer ring on upside-down. With those two pieces together, you then can press-fit the hose adapter to the bottom of the inner ring. Position the hose adapter against the inner ring and then use a vice, bar clamp, arbor press, etc to squeeze the two together. The fit should be TIGHT and once pressed together I have been unable to remove the parts without destroying the plastic itself.
