Torx E11 Hand Socket for Honda Electronic Parking Brake Manual Retraction

Torx E11 Hand Socket for Honda Electronic Parking Brake Manual Retraction

Description

When replacing rear brake pads on newer Honda Accords or Civics with electronic parking brakes (EPB), the EPB must be retracted before compressing the caliper piston. If you don't have a OBD2 scan tool capable of retracting the EPB via a service setting, you can manually retract the EPB by removing the actuator and manually turning the drive shaft clockwise until it reaches its stop. The correct tool to turn the drive shaft is a Torx E11 socket. Slide the socket onto the shaft and turn it by hand. Unfortunately, this is not a common tool. Rather than purhasing this tool, I designed and printed a hand socket for this particular purpose. I proceeded to replace my rear brake pads and this tool functioned perfectly. The hand socket was printed using Creality PETG filament with mostly standard settings using my QIDI Tech Q1 Pro. I increased the vertical shell perimeter from 2 to 3 and used 20% Gyroid infill.
