Sonic Pad mounts for the Ikea Fornuftig Air Purifier
Description
My 3D printer lives in my bedroom, so I bought this Ikea air purifier with the gas and particle filters, to reduce harmfull dust and smells. It moves quite a good volume of air with its 3 speed settings and is both attractive and affordable. It's mounted on the wall directly behind the printer so I removed its fabric handle by sliding it out of the mounting slots, and used the vacant slots to mount my Sonic Pad. The mounts support the Sonic Pad at a 45 degree viewing angle. They are attached using the existing sleeved screws that are removed from the support legs. The pad is well supported and can easily be raised up for access to the rear panel cable connectors. The mounts are deliberately designed to be longer than the slots and are slightly angled, as the Fornuftig rear cover is slightly raised above plane of the slots which prevents a straight-in approach angle. The extra length of the slotted in section prevents it from becoming locked in place and difficult to remove. It also provides enough friction that the mounts do not easily slip out of the slots. Note that the slotted in sections are necessarily thin to fit into the slots and may not stand up to excessive lateral pressure The parts are printed laying flat on the bed with 15% zigzag supports (Cura). The 4.5mm holes printed a little small on my printer so I opened them up with a drill bit. Not sure if it's a slicer setting or a shift in the hole geometry when I rotated the mounting arms 45 degrees, but It does not affect the overall fit. Comment if you need an alternative fixed mounting angle.
