Wooden Balance Bike Hub Repair
Description
I hate it when a small part of a product fails, but you just cannot get a spare and are faced with throwing it away. This repair is for a cheap wooden balance bike. There are various brands out there but the one I have been repairing for my niece is "Boppi". One of the bearings in the rear wheel failed but this caused the bearing carrier moulding to break. Possibly could have glued it back together but it would not have lasted very long. So hopefully I have designed a stronger part that will last. Only time will tell. There are 2 different designs, to take either a 24mm OD (original outside diameter bearing) or 28mm which is for a replacement bearing. The original bearing is 24mm OD x 12mm ID (Inside diameter) x 7mm deep. I could not easily get hold of the 24mm bearing so I purchased the 28mm version, which should just be more robust. All you need to do is purchase a new bearing(s) to replace the failed ones print off the correct size break out the built in support material ( i don't like using supports it I can help it) and assemble. I have published the parts in stl and 3mf and also the Fusion 360 file. There is a parameter "BEARING_OD" which can be set anywhere between 24mm an 28mm (that's the tested range!) Please let me know how you get on, any feed back appreciated Our great nephew will be testing my repair over the next few weeks! Print with a shell count of 4 and 50% infill and Should be made of PETG or ABS something strong. <b><u>I can take no responsibility for any injuries if this part fails.</u></b>
