Leading Edge Knife Sharpener Bearing Rod Holder
Description
I wasn't a fan of Leading Edge's sharpening rod holder either and came across cghildreth's version using a spherical and linear bearing and thought it was great. However, I couldn't find the spherical bearing he used, and only found one with an external diameter of 26mm https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CRNKQ7XJ? So, I did a scratch redo of the holder (not exactly a complicated project). But I like captured nuts, much better than the heated inserts, as they tend to hold a lot better. So, this uses captured nuts. And even a 4mm M3 grub screw so all 4 sides of the spherical bearing can be held. You need to fix the grub screw, before you put the captured nut for the main rod. For the captured nut in the main rod, I used a hemostat to hold the nut, got the screw to thread, let go of the hemostat, and pulled the nut into place. It's working really well. Be careful with some superglue along the seam of the linear bearing and the inside portion of the spherical bearing.
