Lock Step Tube Roller - Print in Place

Lock Step Tube Roller - Print in Place

Description

This is a ***print in place plastic*** tube roller for things like toothpaste. I plan on making this a non-candy option at Halloween and for that I wanted no detachable parts that could cause an ingestion hazard. It also needed to lock to prevent the tube from unrolling. This design uses the flexible attributes of the length to provide give for the handle to turn to the next position. It will get a little tighter after the tube is inserted as that will slight blow the main shaft. It uses an 8 position hold pattern with 4 balls to provide the locking. I made it in several formats + Just the roller + Roller with Hanging ring “RIGHT” handed + Roller with Hanging ring “LEFT” handed all versions with pre-rendered support bar and without Sizes 40, 50 and 67 seam to be a good selection for what I had on hand. ## Left or Right hanging versions The left and right will be up to you based on which direction you roll your tube. If you want to hang it the tube should sit between the spindle and the bar when hung. ## Printing Instructions: + Prints great in PLA with no supports if you use the built-in support model. I have not tested it in other materials yet. + Designed for .4mm nozzle and tested with .2mm layers. + I provide it with a support you can break off and trim off any points that are left. + Twist back and forth to release the internal supports + cut off any points left on the shaft… it does not have to be perfect. + That is it. ## Installing a plastic tube. Many plastic tubes are very agreeable. Some are hateful. For the ones that don't cooperate on the first full turn, place the plastic through the slot until it appears on the other side. Squeeze the tube as you make the first turn. Your turn should have the tube entering between the center shaft and one of the base rods.
