RED DOT CARRY HANDLE SIGHT TYPE 1

RED DOT CARRY HANDLE SIGHT TYPE 1

Description

This is a combination carry hand/red dot sight intended for paintball and airsoft use. Side rails are intended to accommodate... whatever you want to put on them. I made this thing because while I've ordered sights like this from Modern Combat Sports (and many other places such as Evike.com have them as well) but I haven't been about to find a freely available printable version. Now there is one. This comes in three versions. Version A will accommodate a taller sight than version B. This is because when I measured the sight for version A, I failed to take into account that the sight would be attached to a rail and therefore the aperture for the front of the sight should be lower. Version C is a modification of version B, with the sight attachment rail shortened by 1 segment, the ring moved forward to allow the end of the sight to sit further forward inside the ring and the attachment method changed to allow for mounting on rails where 'sliding it on' is not possible. Version C and all later versions will requires their corresponding attachment rail segment to be printed. Fortunately, both versions have enough rail space to accommodate a red dot sight that isn't the exact height. UPDATE: Version C MK2 has been edited to reduce the file size. The reduced size version has replaced the previous files. UPDATE: As per request, Version CMK2 has been shortened. This variant has been designated Type 1C Short. The design can be further shortened, but only up to a point. UPDATE: 11/16 The final variant has been posted. D and D short include top rails and modifications to the interior of the rear ring and the rear rail. Overall, they should be stronger, very slightly lighter and use very slightly less resin. The forward ring has not been modified as planned, as there is literally nothing I can do to strengthen it to the point where it will not break if it is dropped onto a hard surface and lands wrong. The depressions intended to accommodate nuts are also a little small for the 3M nuts I use so they may be modified after the fact to increase size. Unlike C and C short, D and D short are not exactly the same, as the CMK2 short and CMK2 models were modified separately, rather than modifying the CMK2 and shortening it, as was done for CMK2 Short. These differences are largely cosmetic rather than functional, though the D Short has a shorter usable top rail area. There is no played type 1E sight. Barring some specific modification or alteration request, that's all, folks. File sizes are a little large, but not prohibitively so. If I get around to increasing the size of the nut wells, I'll do another file size reduction as well.
