Cyma & Echo 1 Airsoft M14 EBR Grip Mounting Block
Description
Grip mounting block for the Cyma & Echo 1 M14 EBR. These are junk steel castings that snap the anti-rotation bosses off if you look at them wrong. I got one printed by the usual offshore outfits in 316L Stainless for ~$11 USD and I'll never be able to break it. Name the .step file something innocent like "Print head mounting block" before you send it off, if you're worried about getting caught up by an audit. Most Chinese 3D Printing outfits won't do airsoft parts, so some creativity is needed. The longest side hole is for M6x1mm threads. Chase a 5mm drill through the hole first, then tap as normal. Tap should be perpendicular to that face. The standard M6 screw head won't fit in this part, as the hole is purposefully undersized. You'll need to file, sand, or turn down the head to fit. As it is, the wall thickness at this counterbore is <1.5mm (it's about 1.3mm) and you'll likely get warnings about minimum thickness here. It'll print fine. <b>Update 10/13/2024: It works!</b> Received my DMLS 3D Printed block in 316LL stainless today from one of the usual overseas vendors. Worked great, but the model needed some revision, detailed below. Updated to V2. Threaded hole position was a little off (~1.5mm) but the slotted hole in the grip meant it worked fine. Made the pins a little smaller (3.15mm down from 3.2mm, 2.5mm tall instead of 3mm) because fitting took more work than I wanted it to. V1's work just fine, but the V2's should be much easier to install. Chamfers were added to where the block meets the receiver as well, due to the printed model having lightly curled edges and needed filing - this should eliminate that. Fillets were also added to match the cast part and cut down on finger damage.
