Yamaha XJ900 Seca Airbox Mounting Bracket
Description
I recently acquired a 1983 Yamaha XJ900. While giving it the once over, I realized that it is missing the bracket that holds the airbox to the frame. This results in all the weight of the airbox resting on the carbs, which isn't ideal. While the original brackets can be found, they are usually either expensive or unavailable when you need it. I created this model as a stop-gap alternative until I could lay my hands the real thing for a reasonable price. You will need longer bolts than the stock ones since it is much thicker than the stamped steel original. In my case this wasn't a big deal because all my bolts were missing too. I had an assorted pack of metric flange head bolts from Amazon laying around which had some that fit perfect. After installing it, I'll fairly happy with how robust it seems. It might even end up being a permanent solution. This fits my '83. I think they were the same for at least a couple years after, but I can't say for sure since I haven't seen any other years. I included a picture of where it is installed under the tank so you can compare.
