AtomRC Dolphin - secure, but detachable fins
Description
Easily removable fins. They are very, very secured. You can easily lift a plane by grabbing a fin :-) Fins are secured at two point: 1) a 30mm M3 bolt securing the fin vertically to the fuselage 2) at front of the fin by a pin sticking horizontally into the fuselage You will need to print a mirrored version of the measurement tool as well. Simply mirror it in your 3D slicer software. This is needed as the base of the fins is not symmetrical. Hardware needed: - 2x M3 30mm bolts - Exacto knife - 4mm drill bit (turn them manually (between thumb and index finger) to drill holes precisely) - CA glue (at least, that is what I used to glue the 3d printed piece into the fin base I have include photos showing how to do it. Will expand the text at a later point in time with step by step plan. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture on placing reinforcement to hold the front pin down (so dont have to rely on the foam strength). Just create a 1cm wide cut in the fuselage about 5mm in front of the fin's front edge. This cut is to be 90 degrees angled on the pin sticking out of the fin. Then place the 3d printed widges in that cut. Push them so far in that they touch the fins pin. Then use CA to glue them in place at the top. Be carefull not to glue the fins :-) The purpose is that the 3d printed wedges absorb the pressure of the fin pins if they would be forced upward. I intend to upload picturs of this in the near future.
