Bracket to allow GDL50 mounting in armrest of Cirrus SR22/SR20
Description
Where to put the GDL50? One place might be in the armrest, it just fits, but if you are trying to charge it at the same time it is way too tight and the USB power plug is forced into the side potentially damaging the unit. I came up with a solution. It is a bracket that is made to hold the charging cable and connector without putting any force on them, whilst also allowing you to use the power on/off switch. It is a very tight fit and it even pushes out the sides of the armrest a little but ... 1) it can be run on power 2) it is in the centerline of the aircraft and it is level (for AHRS/Synthetic vision support) 3) it is out of the way 4) it is protected from the sun's heat 5) in a plastic aircraft it seems to be able to receive the ADSB data just fine. I designed this to work with a very specific type of charging cable. It has a detachable magnetic head and it works great in this application. Any other type of charging adapter might not work as well (or at all). I recommend them - here they are... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092QGDD6K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I also printed this in a tough but flexible resin on my Elegoo Saturn Ultra 4, this allows the ON/OFF switch to work without it being too stiff or breaking off.
