1915 Erie B-2 Steam Shovel

1915 Erie B-2 Steam Shovel

Description

This is a model of a 1915 Erie B-2 steam shovel. Actually it was manufactured by the Ball Engine Co. in Erie, PA before the company spun off its steam shovel line to become the Erie Steam Shovel Company in 1922. But it is commonly known as an Erie B-2. This is actually a copy of the Jordan Highway Miniatures HO scale kit. Using calipers and micrometers I measured and I recreated all of the kit parts in CAD (Fusion 360) in 1/35 scale. I created this model solely as an exercise to better my skills in CAD, it was not meant as an end in itself. Given that several people have requested I share the files so here it is. I make no pretense that it is perfect and that all the parts fit flawlessly. Especially considering that all printers are different. Your print will most likely require some scraping, sanding, reaming, etc. to assemble. I've included a few exploded views to help the would-be builder in assembly. As mentioned this model is in 1/35 scale simply because I found it easier to work in without the prototype becoming too big. To convert to other scales simply scale up or down in your slicer as follows: 1/64: decrease scale to 54.7% 1/43: decrease scale to 81.4% 1/32: increase scale to 109.4% 1/24: Increase scale to 145% 1/18: Increaase scale to 194% I do hope you enjoy this model.
