Cognizant (Kinetic Sculpture)
Description
Cognizant is a Wood PLA kinetic sculpture made by Jayleen Li It's printed with Wood PLA with colors Cherry Wood, Walnut Wood, and Maple Wood. There are metal bearings that allows the parts to rotate (608 Steel Ball Bearings 8mm x 22mm x 7mm). I uploaded the different parts after cutting the model up so it can be printed on a standard printer. I have a BambuLab P1s. I also made a project file on Makerworld with the exact details of how many times to print the parts. https://makerworld.com/en/models/1039306 Print the parts this many times - (3x) Lower subgears and it's corresponding wings - (3x) Higher subgears and it's corresponding wings - (6x) Lower subgears and it's corresponding wings - (1x) big_gear_backing_1 - (6x) big_gear_backing_2 - (1x) big_gear_with_subgears_1 - (6x) big_gear_with_subgears_2 - (1x) base - (1x) top spinner - (6x) hole_cover Washers are optional. - (3x) washer .1in (for subgears) - (3x) washer .4in (for higher subgears) - (1x) washer .2in (for big gear) You can print this in regular PLA but the print I made is in Wood PLA! The main settings: - 5% infill by default except for: - 30% infill for big spiral gear centers - 10% for big spiral gear with subgear edges - 50% infill for the base Only the subgears need supports. It will be much easier to remove support if you use Support PLA at the interface layer I don't have specific documentation since I thought it is pretty simple but if it doesn't make sense let me know. I was inspired by David C Roy's wooden kinetic sculptures so you might see a strong resemblance here ;) I made a YouTube Video that goes into more detail how I made this project!
