Top Angle Connector for Filament Shelf

Top Angle Connector for Filament Shelf

Description

I stumbled across a discussion on Reddit about using cheap shoe storage shelves to organize filament. Picked one up from Amazon and they work! Except the distance between the shelves is a little short. AngrySquish's rod extension (which this remixes) did the trick. But stacking the shelves into a single stack made it unwieldy, so I separated the shelves into two five-shelf units. Unfortunately the kit does not come with enough pieces to construct two sets of top rails. So I remixed the rod extension into a right-angle connector, then took some of the leftover short bars from the kit and cut them in half to use as risers. Perfect top railings on both shelf units now, just the right height for more rolls of filament. The top risers are halves of a short rod (about 3 15/16"), and the cross bar is another full, short bar. I wrapped a bit of painters tape around the ends of the rod, both to give a nice snug fit and to protect my hands from the sharp edges the hacksaw left behind. There's a hole through the corner of each bracket, it's meant to give you a place to hang things from, or to zip tie the two units together. The remix was shrunk down by one percent vs the original, just to make the fit a bit tighter. I love the look of these, so much nicer than the cheap angle brackets that were included in the kit. And the railings now sit down at a good height. Link to shelving unit on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Q678QVP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
