Sovol SV06 Plus/Ace spool holder

Sovol SV06 Plus/Ace spool holder

Description

Just a simple design that utilizes the nice bearing spool holder axle that comes with the printer. I don't think the SV06 regular comes with the same one, so YMMV. I've included the `.scad` file to edit if you want to play with it. #### Instructions for assembly 1. Print both legs (`-clamp_end` and `-flange_end`) 2. Remove the existing spool holder axle from the mount above the printer ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/787531d5-5f3a-4ff3-8b95-42787ec20971/20250131_132651.jpg) 3. Using the M4 wrench that came with the printer, remove the screwed-on end of the axle (the flange) ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/d5cd9ca9-8f27-4e39-b08e-5f7b62d3dc0d/20250131_132712.jpg) 4. Slide the flange end leg onto the *inside* of the flange (the fit is designed to be tight, so you may have to put some force into it) ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/212b8f3a-636c-4456-9bc1-dd076461df62/20250131_132757.jpg) 5. Reattach the flange 5. With the legs flat on your workspace, slide the clamp end onto the axle and tighten the clamp ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/3c657575-8862-4bfa-939d-819b7d6c97ab/20250131_132944.jpg) 6. If the fit isn't square (eg. the legs don't sit flat), you can loosen the flange end to adjust ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/20f76a0b-dc5b-407e-86df-d9ceccd766ac/20250131_133017.jpg) ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/fc6b5096-7599-4b03-b0e4-da3009810c67/20250131_133040.jpg) #### Installing and removing a spool To install or remove a spool, remove the screw-on clamp and take off that end's leg. That will make the axle accessible to slide on a spool. ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/8533d7c6-f725-4af0-b75d-f8fe4d230825/20250131_133214.jpg) ![](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/1172160/rich_content/60b26174-866a-4646-b2d8-5bf71b46d0c8/20250131_133250.jpg) I recommend some kind of reverse Bowden system to feed the filament without risking tangling, but I've used it with just a simple filament guide (such as [this Thing](/thing:5895838)) just fine.
