Spare & Custom cup sizes for Stanley Professional Organizer #014725R
Description
If you're a fan of "Adam Savage Tested" like I am, you may know about his love affair with Sortimo T-Boxx storage containers. They have little removable cups in various sizes, and he's built a "Rack" to house several dozen of them. And of course, they cost an arm & a leg (Savage sells a custom "Savage Industries" version for $110; stock they're in the $70 range). Not having Adam Savage's budget, I chose the Stanley Professional Organizer #014725R to suit the same purpose. It's the Hyundai to the Sortimo's Mercedes - sure, you can tell the difference. But both will get you where you want to go in relative safety & comfort... and the Stanley is about $15 each! One thing I discovered after buying a few, though, is that I need "different" size compartments. Each comes with 25 cups in single, double, and quad sizes. Basically you get 12 singles, 8 doubles, and 5 quads making up the 25 included. And if you're storing nuts & bolts, maybe that assortment is fine. But I use mine for my N-scale model railroading supplies - which range from tiny, tiny screws (M1 on up) to things like turnouts and motors and electronics and tools. Yeah, other people have uploaded these cups but I just prefer my own design... 2mm fillets on the interior so it's easier to get little stuff out, and lots of different sizes - tiny stuff, long skinny stuff, weird shaped stuff. So, here are a few of the different compartments I've designed so far. You can print them in all sorts of colors (I tend to stick with Yellow for the most part, but sky's the limit). I'll upload pictures later but they all fit fine, and do a good job of helping me organize better. If there's a particular need you have - say, something 7 units wide and 1 unit long, or L- shaped, or whatever.... post a comment and I'll upload it for you. The "Right Full Edge" version that's the equivalent of 6 small containers, four vertically oriented with two horizontally below, JUST BARELY fits on my Bambu X1C print bed (256mmx256mm) diagonally. I could probably print something "a little bit" larger by angling it upward with supports but so far haven't found the need. If you have a bigger printer and want something bigger though - by all means, put in a comment. I've gotten it down to a simple design that only takes a few minutes to make a new variation. Print them feet-down, with supports. I've tried everything from 15% infill to 100% and no significant difference in performance. I'm using basic PLA for mine. *Note: When I import them into BambuStudio, they end up sideways for some reason. If I rotate them manually to 90-degrees for feet down, that works fine. If I click "Auto Orient" then it put it on one of the sides - which are sloped at 1-degree! So if your slicer "auto-orients" one on its side on import, it'll be a 91-degree rotation to get them flat on their feet.
