Dreadnought-class Nuclear Submarine

Dreadnought-class Nuclear Submarine

Description

The Dreadnought-class is the Royal Navy’s next-generation nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN), designed to replace the Vanguard class, featuring a length of approximately 153 meters, a displacement of around 17,200 tonnes, and a crew of roughly 130 personnel, while being equipped with Trident II D5 intercontinental ballistic missiles, a PWR3 nuclear reactor for improved efficiency and safety, and advanced stealth technology for enhanced survivability; the class will consist of four submarines—HMS Dreadnought, HMS Valiant, HMS Warspite, and HMS King George VI—with the first expected to enter service in the early 2030s, ensuring the UK's strategic nuclear deterrence well into the future.
