Tiny utility knife keychain
Description
This tiny utility knife is ideal EDC because of its sliding mechanism, replaceable blades and size of normal key. I tried to buy several different knives on my keys but each had its problems. Dull, nonhardened blades, big size, hard to open is just a few of them. So I designed this sliding knife, that is really slim and small, has replaceable blades and needs only 3,5 g of filament. This makes it a great tool to always have with you when you need to open a box, cut some rope or get to some hard to reach spots on your 3D prints. Not gonna lie it took me several tries, different tolerancing and micro adjustments to get to the point of working how I imagined. So if you have some suggestions to improve it please let me know. If you like this model I would highly appreciate if you would visit my Printables page (https://www.printables.com/model/1176925-tiny-utility-knife-keychain) and download the models from there and add a like so I can at least get some free filament from my models. Printing: This is a quick 30 minutes print (on MK3S). Use lower layer height like 0,15 mm. It requires no supports but you need to have your bed adhesion and bridges dialed in. The only problematic part is the MK-01 “blade holder”. It needs bridging in the cut out for the blade. Just make sure that in the slicer the lines are going across the gap and the printer is not printing in the thin air - see photos. 3 perimeters and 100 % infill and slower printing should make it work. See image (4). And make sure you do not have seams in the sliding grooves. Examples in image(5),(6),(7). There are 3 kinds of spring stiffness so you can choose the one most suited for you. Generally the less stiff filament the more stiff does the spring need to be. - For PLA, PC and fiber infused filament I liked the “weak” stiffness the most, but it works even with "normal" spring. - For PETG, ASA, ABS, nylon use “normal” or “strong” spring because the material itself is springy. these other spring are on my Printables page: https://www.printables.com/model/1176925-tiny-utility-knife-keychain If for some reason you would need even weaker spring just sand away a bit of material at the start of the spring see image (8). Assembly: Before assembly I highly recommend to put a little bit of grease on the MK-02 “base”. It makes wonders for the sliding mechanism. See image (9) with suggested place for grease. First insert the blade into the MK-01 “blade holder”. If you have problems that the filament sagged while bridging, simply heat the blade with a lighter and press it into the holder. Then slide it from the front into the MK-02 "base". Now take the last part MK-03 “the lock” and slide it from the top into the base. Then just rotate it anticlockwise and snap it in the bottom as well. And you are done. To disassemble it just go backwards. First insert your fingernail in the bottom groove and lift out and rotate the lock clockwise. Then just pull it up and you are free to replace the blade. For personal touch combine different coloured parts to make a unique look. What you need: For the blades I used WORKPRO SK5 Mini Blades. If you have some kind of different mini blade - length around 30 mm hit me up and I will release a remix.
