Dune Board Game Insert (All Expansions and Sleeved Cards 2023)
Description
I wanted to fit all expansions with sleeved cards into a single box with minimum lid lift. I used MysteryDough's OpenSCAD source files as a starting point, but all of the original components ended up being redesigned. It was a little tricky to organize the card boxes efficiently, but I eventually settled for this circular layout, which works quite well. There is a slight lid lift as you can see on the pictures, but overall I'm quite happy with the result :) #### Printing Instructions Print every component once, except base_faction_x6.stl, which (as the name suggests) should be printed 6 times. I've included a .3MF which contains all the STLs, everything pre-colored based on the color scheme you see in the pictures All parts should be small enough to fit on any normal build plate, except the "wheels" box, which barely fits on my P1S build plate. To be honest, I think the battle wheels box is sort of redundant, but if you really want to print it anyway, simply cut the box and lid in half in your slicer and keep them separate like that. It should still work exactly the same way even if it's not all in one piece. #### Organising Components I tried to separate all faction-specific components, optional modules (planets, discovery tokens etc.) from the rest of the game in an attempt to make setup easier. * Faction tokens (except planets) fit into the faction boxes - there is a precise place for every single token. * Faction's traitors, alliance cards and any faction-specific cards (storm deck for Aterides, predictions for Bene Gesserit, Richese treachery cards) go into their respective faction card boxes, _EXCEPT_ planet cards - these go into the planets box along with all the planet tokens :) * Discovery part of the spice deck and the discovery tokens go into the discovery box. * There is a single traitor in the traitor box (cheap hero). **IMPORTANT**: Card boxes with the same cutout width belong on top of each other. Otherwise it would be quite difficult to figure out what goes where and achieve a uniform height of the card box stacks. So make sure to check out those cutouts :) The rest should be self-explanatory... #### Remixing Instructions I've uploaded all the OpenSCAD files (the insert as well as the Boardgame Toolkit files) as well as the font used. I've tried to include comments in some places, but as the edits and tweaks kept piling up, some parts might be a little messy. All of the boxes can be printed as-is after export _EXCEPT_ the faction boxes and their lids. These fit very tight into the middle of the box and any unnecessary material needs to be shaved off - to be precise you need to cut off 1.1mm of the bottom of each of the faction box and another 0.5mm off of the top of each of the faction lids (to clarify, "top of the lid" is the side facing the build plate) - otherwise the boxes won't fit. I couldn't figure out a way how to do this in OpenSCAD directly, so I only did it manually after the STLs were exported. I hope I didn't forget anything. Post a comment, post a make, enjoy!
