RedSea Nano maintenance free protein skimmer
Description
Another Mame skimmer. So it uses an external membrane pump + bubble stone instead of a flywheel—very quiet and does not introduce extra heat into the tank. The bubble stone needs to go on the bottom of the assembly, so the bubbles rise and take the dirt with them. You need to play with bubble stones, the finer the better. I don't recommend wood, that only lasts a couple weeks. I use those : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08B3MX4BP It's an improvement over my first design, quasi maintenance-free, and also skims better than using a cup. Needs 0.5" hose attached that runs down to a reservoir (a 64oz mason jar in my case, which will last a year or longer), so you don't need to empty the cup. I added a holder for a second filter sock. The whole thing clips into the plastic of the first filter. You need to cut, sand, or drill a hole between the two sock holders and raise the overflow hole. I set mine up so that it uses the first filter first, and only if that one gets clogged will it flow over into the second. Once both are full, it will use the overflow. You can find the other parts, like overflow extensions, here.: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6604613 Print in PETG, depending on you printer the parts might fit too tight or sit too lose, this has been tested on a MK4S and X1C
