YAMAC - Yet another Macbook Air Camera Cover - 0.6mm ultra thin
Description
I know, Apple claims the camera is not in use, when the green light is not on and I believe that they believe. It just feels better not having a lens always pointing at me... There are a couple of similar covers on thingiverse, but this one is made specifically for a Macbook Air. It follows the shape of the displays' blind spot where the camera sits and if you print the cover-slider with transparent filament, the ambient light sensor will not be affected, even when the slider is in "open" position. Print both parts slowly with 0.15mm layer height. The large part should have 4 layers in total, resulting in a total thickness of 0.6mm - The slider has one layer more. This ensures that the Macbook air could be closed completely. I glued it to display with FixoGum that should be removable (fingers crossed;) by rubbing it off. A very thin double sided adhesive tape should also do it. Disclaimer: Apple says, every camera cover thicker than a piece of paper could damage the display if not removed before closing - so using my design is on your own risk!
