Slim Case for Raspberry Pi 5 with Active Cooler
Description
I needed a case for the Raspberry Pi 5 with Active Cooler that was as slim and simple as possible—meaning no excessive supports (the design does not require any supports) and minimal bridging (okay there is one small bridge at the SD card slot). Additionally, I wanted to use threaded inserts instead of nuts for a cleaner design. Since I only have M3x3.0 threaded inserts available (which require 4 mm diameter and 4 mm deep holes), I had to drill out the Pi's mounting holes. The required screws are M3x12; panhead screws look a bit nicer, but I used the last four I had in the prototype. The last two pictures show the angle at which the Raspberry Pi should be inserted into the base, as well as how to position the lid so that the four legs near the LAN/USB ports latch into the base.
