Air filter holder for Creality K1 exhaust fan

Air filter holder for Creality K1 exhaust fan

Description

Over several design iterations, I created an air filter holder for my Creality K1 My Problem - I work every day in the same room as my new (and first ever) 3D printer - a Creality K1. - I didn't like the idea of filament micro particles or fumes exhausting into my office space while I worked. My Idea - I found some very well priced Activated Carbon filters on amazon (£1 each) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BC1L9Q68 - I'd create my first ever CAD model to solve the problem, and test my new printer (which up to that point, had only printed downloaded models) My Solution - I measured the space available with calipers and using photographs of the exhaust - I Used a software I'd not used before TinkerCAD (after failing to model something in Blender) https://www.tinkercad.com/things/4FUxFwmilqC-creality-k1-filter-production-version - At the very last moment, i decided to add a tiny bit more contingency to allow for non-accurate filters being received (around 1% bigger than initially measured and planned) Outcome - It sits a little proud from the back of the printer, however is very well sealed (for a true version 2, I'd lessen the height of the connector by around 10mm.) - Filters are nicely snug, but also very accessible thanks to the finger slot - I'm beyond happy with how it came out, and very proud of myself for successfully modelling something which actually works first time around.
