No, you'd probably never do herringbone gears on a precision timepiece. However, a lot of the elements of this model introduce torque on the gear train (I'm looking at you, threaded axles), and the herringbone gears help to keep things aligned. Also, herringbone gears are just cool. Files that have "_Herringbone" have been modified from the original model. The remainder are original files. The Spring Barrel, Gear Train, Escape Wheel, Pallet Fork, and Barrel Ratchet were modified to add herringbone gears. The Train Frame Front (which is now just a mirror of the Train Frame Back) and Balance Frame Front (which had a millimeter shaved off it) were modified to help with alignment. I also skimped on a lot of the hardware, because most of the gear train is now self centering. There's still plenty of regular M3 and M4 nuts, but it only really needs one M4 locknut and two washers around the fork (as pictured) and the remaining locknuts and washers from the original aren't really needed anywhere else.
