M6TR Print In Place Diffuser

A few changes from the original. No the polycarbonate does not block the IR laser. The biggest one being it is setup to accept a diffusor that you can make yourself out of 0.093in or 2mm thick polycarbonate (don't use acrylic, polycarbonate is much tougher). The other changes are trimming away material on the corner closest to the picatinny rail you would mount the unit on. I have my unit sitting flush with the end of my handguard and this gives it enough room (still a snug fit, more material could be removed all around). The mounting tabs have been lengthened a few mm so it is easier to flip the cap on/off. The large inside ring that sits inside the cavity of the LAM has been shortened quite a bit as well for the same reason. Materials: I printed mine out of generic TPU, strength here is plenty. I found my 0.093in 8x10in sheet of polycarbonate at Lowes for $7, you can make a TON of these with it. Directions: Cut a piece of polycarbonate at 14-15mm diameter. You can use a hole saw in a drill press, or do what I did and use snips to cut a ugly square out of the polycarbonate sheet, draw a 15mm circle (with the plastic covers still on, don't draw on the polycarbonate itself), then used the snips to cut close to the circle the best I could (was no where close). After that I used a belt sander, turned it on and just removed material until I had a mostly round circle that would fit. It does NOT need to be perfect. Once done, take 400 grid sand paper and just go crazy on each side of the polycarbonate. It does not take much, just 30 seconds or so on each side. I put a pause at layer 34 (2 layers before it starts printing the other side of the gap where the polycarbonate goes), placed the cut piece of polycarbonate in and hit resume. After that just head up the two side tabs with a lighter or soldering iron and fold them up and your done!
