Nano Mounting Plate - Improved
Description
Nano Mounting Plate - Improved I have an earlier version of this that was posted in January 2024 at... Nano Mounting Plate https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6450761 As with the earlier version, this plate is intended to be glued to a project board or inside an enclosure. This version uses M1.4 threaded brass inserts and machine screws vice the earlier self tapping screws. Other than that the only differences are... - The new plate is slightly wider to prevent the pockets for the threaded inserts breaking through the outer edges [new plate 20.1 mm; old plate 18.12 mm]. Length is unchanged. - The screw posts are reinforced where they meet the plate to provide some additional material around the top of the insert pockets. There are screw posts and pockets for inserts at all four corners but in practice it appears inserts and screws are really only needed at two corners. The other corners of the Nano are still supported by the posts and do fine without screws. I would only consider using all four screws if the project requires frequent plugging and unplugging of the USB cable to the Nano port. Heat setting the threaded inserts is unnecessary and in fact I don't believe that the heat setting tool sets include tips smaller than M2. The inserts can be easily installed cold by pressing them in with a clamp or in a vise. The pockets are shouldered and the inserts, when shouldered, should be flush with the bottom surface of the plate.
