Top of Monitor Webcam Bracket

Top of Monitor Webcam Bracket

Description

I am a consultant by day and I am on a lot of video calls. When the pandemic broke out and all my meetings were on video, I was bothered by the fact that if I was looking at the person on my monitor, I appeared to be looking off to the side or someplace besides their eyes. So I conceived of the idea of a camera mount that would put the camera in the middle of my desktop monitor so that when I look into the eyes on the screen, the person in the meeting will see me looking into their eyes. I initially solved this problem with a desktop stand, but it was too wide and blocked more of the screen than necessary. This design hangs the camera from the top of the screen with a very thin boom that doesn’t obscure the screen any more than necessary. The camera I use is a Logitech Brio which has a standard ¼-20 mounting hole on the bottom. The camera bracket needs a hook on the top that matches the width of the top of the monitor and the angle at which the back of monitor meets the top. The bracket needs a flat carriage on the bottom with a hole for the mounting bolt. To make this you'll need a Logitech Brio webcam and a 1/4-20 tripod camera bolt. The following photos show webcam on the screen, the view of the screen with the webcam in the middle, the webcam on the screen, the back, top of the monitor showing the hook on the top of the mast, the bracket as printed, a prototype made of hanger wire.
