Radxa Zero 3w OpenIPC RubyFPV VRX / Groundstation

Radxa Zero 3w OpenIPC RubyFPV VRX / Groundstation

Description

This is a case that holds a Radxa zero 3w and two BL-M8812EU2 wireless radios, intended for use with OpenIPC/RubyFPV on a set of goggles. ****I accidentally fried my VTX before I was able to fly with this so I do not know how well it handles heat, so print at your own risk. If it's too toasty I will add more ventilation**** Be aware that tolerances are very tight for this and you man need to use a deburring tool or an exacto knife to slightly open up certain areas depending on your printer/filament. Filament - Siraya Tech Fibreheart PET-CF Printer - Bambu P1S .16 layer height, 3 walls, 3 top/bottom This was drawn from scratch, but was heavily influenced by the VRX posted by Romushock @ https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6917528. My components did not fit that case so here we are. This design also offers power via either the Barrel jack or a USB C port on the left side of the VRX. The USB C on the right is for spectator mode using Ruby or for sending DVR to a flash drive. **DO NOT PLUG IN TO BOTH POWER PORTS AT THE SAME TIME** BOM - Please be aware that the case may not fit unless you are able to source these exact parts. I also recommend ordering a spare of the cheaper parts so that if you mess something up you don't have to wait for Ali again :). 1x Radxa Zero 3w 2gb no emmc (sd card storage) 2x M8812EU2 - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806911826302.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.4.48ce1802s0RO32&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 1x USB Hub - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807098137441.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.23.48ce1802s0RO32&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 1x USBC Male connector - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804621178048.html? 2x USB C female ports - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09WCSF8FC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.16.48ce1802s0RO32&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 1x 5.5x2.1 female barrel jack - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806037652553.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.49.48ce1802s0RO32&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 1x 2510 fan 5v https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805814509910.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.22.48ce1802gqyeXm&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 2x step down buck converters 5v - https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806299955878.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.71.48ce1802gqyeXm&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 3x each 1uf/10uf/100uf capactors (kit here) https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806299955878.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.71.48ce1802gqyeXm&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 1x 5 way joystick - Desolder pins to fit case -https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832767971032.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.99.48ce1802gqyeXm&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa 4x UFL to SMA pigtails - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HXU1PKS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title Micro SD card for your software of choice :) I also Used a 1' Micro HDMI to mini HDMI (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BFZFT7R?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) for my Attitude V6s and a barrel jack splitter cable (90 degree ends for power is cleaner than what I did) Assembly - use whatever you like but here's what I used: 8x M1x4.5 self tappers - kit here - Or just glue/VHB/double sided tape works as well- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GKXMSVR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I used 2 screws on the fan and 2 on the Radxa E7000/VHB/liquid electrical tape for mounting and strain relief Kapton tape Please refer to Romushock's design for the wiring diagram, other than the female USB ports. The data port is just wired to the hub like the wifi cards and the charging port is just tied into the barrel jack leads that feeds the buck converters. -Make sure to map out components and where your wiring is going to go since too much excess or too short of wires will cause clearance issues. -SMA pigtails must be installed first. Then I recommend dropping the buttons into place and mounting the joystick. Everything else do as you choose. -v5 converters are wrapped together with kapton and VHB'd down to the case. USB hub is also VHB'd down on the opposite side of the Radxa -female USB C ports are CA glued to case on their "stands" as well as a bit on the hole where they pass through the case wall. -Wifi boards are mounted with E7000 so they are still removable -All exposed wire are hit with liquid electrical tape to protect against shorts and provide some strain relief -Screws are used on all 4 mounting posts of the joystick and on 2 opposite corners on the fan/Radxa - Leads will need to be trimmed very short on the barrel jack so that it can be installed Here's a goggle mount I remixed as well that is confirmed to work with the V6 and this VRX: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6958811 Big thanks to the OpenIPC team and also to Petru at RubyFPV for their incredible work !🙏
