Scope Ball Joint Mount for HICTOP printer
Description
Want To Keep An Extra Close Eye On Your Prints? I Got A Cheap (<$20) Usb Borescope Online So I Could Get Up Close And Personal With The Extruder While It Was Printing. I Discovered That Wonderbot'S Popcorn Joints Had Plenty Of Room Inside Them To Run The Cord Through, So I Made A Mount Plate To Let Me Connect Them To My Print Carriage. I Also Made An End Piece With A Slightly Narrower Throat So It Held The Camera End Snug. I Have A Hictop Acrylic Printer With A 50X15 Blower Fan On It, But This Plate Should Fit Any Standard 40X40 Fan Mount. The Holes Are Slightly Oversized, But I Just Used M3 Screws. Print As Many Of Wonderbot'S Popcorn Joints As You Need To Complete The Project. Http://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:194240 The More You Print, The More Reach You'Ll Have With Your Scope, But You Also Risk Making The Arm Too Heavy And Wobbly. I Printed About 18 Of Them And Had Issues With The Arm Flopping Over And Pushing The Camera Into The Part Or (Worse) The Extruder. This Seems To Be A Common Issue For Ball Joints, But Should Be Easily Solved With A Dab Of Hot Glue Per Joint. The Scope Is Fitted With A Few Tiny Leds Around The Tip Of The Camera. Led Brightness Is Controlled By A Little Dial On The Side Of The Usb Plug. They'Re No Substitue For A Good Set Of Lights On Your Print Bed And All But Useless In A Dark Room, But They Can Help To Illuminate The Area Right Around The Extruder A Bit. The Camera'S Autoexposure Will Drop The Frame Rate If There'S Too Little Light, Making Everything Look Like A Complete Blur.
