GHOST PARADE, a tribute to Gzumwalt and Ruby Bot
Description
Inspired By Gzumwalt’S Carousel (Thingiverse 515168) And Ruby Bot’S Ghost Emoij (Thingiverse 515168 Https://Youtu.Be/Ksgnyh706R0), I Started Working On A Toy That Brings The Two Together. Kids Really Love Ghosts That Glow In The Dark, Especially When They Are Dancing. Https://Youtu.Be/Tku7Nxdfd6S The Carousel Has A Motor Base, Which Houses A Small Geared Motor (Aliexpress, Also Available With A 3Mm Shaft) And Two Or More Cylindrical Neodymium Magnets, Dxl=4X24 [Mm]. The Rotating Platform Is Directly Mounted To The Motor Shaft And Carries Five Ghosts (Printed At 50% Of The Actual Size), Fixed To The Cylinder With A Joint Which Houses An M3 Bold And A Small Cubical Neodymium Magnet 5X5X5 [Mm]. The M3 Bolts Can Rotate Freely, While The Magnets Are Glued To The Joint And The Back Of The Ghosts. Use Sandpaper To Roughen The Surfaces To Obtain Proper Adhesion. Make Sure No Glue Goes Into The M3 Bolt Area. Use A Marked Cylindrical Magnet To Determine The Correct Position Of The Cubical Magnets Before Applying The Adhesive. The Easiest Way Is To Apply A Drop Of Adhesive Only At The Back Of The Ghost Just Before Positioning The Joint. The Same Marked Magnet Is Used To Determine The Position Of The Cylindrical Magnets Before They Are Pushed Into Their Positions. The Attracted End Should Face Downwards. A Little Drop Of Glue Prevents Them From Being Pulled Out. Since The Magnets Can Be Accessed From The Bottom As Well, It Is Easy To Bring Them In The Right Position. Use The Lowest Voltage At Which The Motor Runs Smoothly. During Each Rotation, The Ghosts Are Charged By A Light Source Which Illuminates The Ghosts Through The Window At The Backside Of The Motor Unit. Any Light Source Like A Simple Torch Can Be Used. I Made A Small Panel With 42 White 3Mm Leds. These Can Be Found On Aliexpress At Incredibly Low Prices. I Bought A Hundred Of Them For Only Us$1.37, Free Shipping! Put Three Of Them In Series With A 120 Ohm Resistor And Repeat That 14 Times. Basically You Just Need Two Magnets, One At The Back Side To Make Sure The Ghosts Are Aligned Properly During Charging And One At The Front Side To Make Them Dance. Of Course You Are Free To Use The Other Positions As Well. No Roof? Why Not Put A Wobbly Ghost In The Centre (Thingyverse 1064239) ? An Intriguing Design Of Muzz64. If You Insist On A Roof, There Are Two Options Included As Stl-Files..
