Snapmaker 2 IR Sensor for levelling on glass

Snapmaker 2 IR Sensor for levelling on glass

Description

Replace The Induction Proximity Sensor In The Snapmaker 2 Print Head With An Infrared One To Enable Auto Leveling On A Glass Bed. Full Instructions, Parts List And Links To Suppliers Are In The Included Document. ###Disclaimer For This Project You Need To Completely Dismantle The Print Head, Solder A Wire To The Circuit Board, Create A New Connection Cable Containing Electronic Components And Slightly Change And Re-Compile The Firmware So Warranty For This Part Is Gone And You Do Need Some Soldering Skills, It’S All Completely Reversible Though And You Can Easily Go Back To The Stock Print Head And Firmware But Please Don’T Blame Me If It All Goes Wrong. The Original Document That I Will Kept Up To Date Is In The Link Below I Suggest You Use This: Https://Docs.Google.Com/Document/D/13Br1Mjt_O0Jm3Sh03S_Ewc3Gw4Bhhzokey1Setnwyf4/Edit?Usp=Sharing I Did This With The Original Sm2 Printhead And Hot End. I Don’T Think Anything In The New Head Will Invalidate The Design Indeed It Looks A Lot Like This Solution And As The New Slightly Wider Hot End Works With This Printhead Today I Think It Will All Work With The New One But This Needs Testing. If You Have One And Try This Please Leave A Comment. I Find The Sensor Works Extremely Well And Repeatability Is Very Good. I Measured Standard Deviation Against The Mean From 5 Full Bed Leveling Runs With The Bed At 60C To Be Less Than 0.004Mm.
