portabee-kit extruder mount
Description
This Is To Move The Extruder From The Carriage To The Side Of The Right Base. Longer 6Mm Thread Rods Might Be Neccessary Depending Upon Your Actual Portabee. This Is For The Original Portabee-Kit. The Bowden Tube Mounting Plate From The Printrbot Conversion Was Utilized To Make This Bracket But Shifted Off-Center Slightly To More Closely Meetup With The Offset Extruder. This Uses The Existing Extruder. I'M Using The Printrbot Bowden Conversion Hot-End Mount Drilled Out Slightly To Fit An Ebay'Ed Hotend. You Will Have To Come Up With Your Own Mounting Block To Get The Bowden Tube To Mount To The Stock Hot-End. This Is Wip To Fit A Machine Currently Under Construction So Use At Your Own Risk. I Will Update This Once I'Ve Been Able To Test It. Edit 1: Printed Successfully And Ran Into The First 2 Problems. The Offset For The Bowden Tube Was Fine, But That Section Needs To Be Raised Up 10Mm And Then There Needs To Be More Bracing So Its Not As Floppy. Also, Due To The Lip On The Extruder For The Hot-End Plate, I Had To Use A Spacer Plate Between The Extruder And This Block. Do Not Use This Yet. Edit 2: The Second Bracket Printed Successfully And Works. I Raised The Extruder Mount By 10Mm And Added A Bit More Width To The Curved Section To Strengthen The Angle Joint. The Only Drawback To This That I See At The Moment Is That The Extruders Spring Tensioners Are Pointed Down So It Might Get A Bit Finicky When Its Time To Change Out Filament. That Doesn'T Really Bother Me But I Just Thought That I Would Warn You.
