K8400 VERTEX Upgrade With Raspberry Pi and Fish Eye Camera
Description
This Collection Of Things Allows To Attach Raspberry Pi 2 Or 3 Model B And Camera With Fish-Eye Lens To Velleman Vertex 3D Printer K8400. I Am Publishing Here The Entire Collection, Which Includes The Following Subsets: - Power Switch, Power Cord Plug And Ac Receptacle For Raspberry Power Supply - Raspberry Pi 2 Or 3 Model B Mounting Box - Ribbon Cable Holders - Camera Mount - Excess Wire Holder For Raspberry Pi'S Power Supply - Power Cord Clip You May Opt To Print All Subsets Of Just Few Of Them. Most Subsets Of Things Can Be Used Independently From Other Subsets. Power Switch, Power Cord Plug And Ac Receptacle This Is A Variation Of My Power Switch Posted Here Http://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1507537 I Moved It From The Right To The Left Side Of The Printer And Added Ac Receptacle. Rocker Switch Powers On And Off The Printer While The Receptacle Is Always On. I Chose Such Connectivity To Make Sure Raspberry Stays On Even When The Printer Is Off. You Can Also Place Receptacle "Behind" The Switch. Just Consider That Cutting Power From Raspberry Without Shutdown Command Is Not Recommended And Can Cause File System Corruption. Raspberry Pi 2 Or 3 Model B Mounting Box Again, This Is Modified Box That I Posted Earlier Here Http://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1623359 Comparing To The Previous Design I Moved The Box From The Left To The Right Side Of The Printer And Turned The Board Upside Down (Components Facing Up). Turing The Board Was Required To Open The Path For The Ribbon Cable Connecting Raspberry With The Camera. The Box Is Screwed To The Bottom Of The Printer And Also Holds In Place The Flat Cable Connecting Main Board With The Display. Ribbon Cable Holders These Are Modified Versions Of Small Black Plastic Corners Holding Together Printer'S Side And Front Panels. I Uploaded 2 Options Of Each Piece. Ribbon_Holder_Upper_Option2 Acts As Protective Shield Between The Ribbon Cable And Moving Parts Of The Printer. Camera Mount The Mount Is Designed For Raspberry Pi Camera With Fish Eye Lens. This Is Fixed Mount, I.E. You Cannot Rotate The Camera. Camera Position And The Angle Were Precisely Selected To Capture Entire Print Area When Camera Resolution Is Set To 1200X900, Or 600X450 Pixels. Raspberry Pi 3 Can Handle 25 Fps At These Resolutions Without Dropping The Frames. Excess Wire Holder For Raspberry Pi'S Power Supply This Subset Contains 2 Pieces And Holds The Excess Wire Of Raspberry Power Supply. To Use This Wire Holder You Need To Relocate The Fan From The Bottom Of The Printer. One Of The Options Is To Print My Mainboard Cover And Attach The Fan To It Http://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1623399 Power Cord Clip I Purchased Power Cord With 90 Degree Left Angled Plug And Since The Power Cord Is Now Running Along The Left Side Of The Printer I Created This Little Clip To Hook It To The Printer'S Leg. Update 24-Jan-2017: Added Pi_Box_Nutless.Stl File That Can Be Mounted Without Nuts. Print With 0.3Mm Resolution, Brim, Touch-Bed Support. Use M3X12Mm Screws. Update 29-Jan-2017: Added Top_Ribbon_Holder.Stl File And Image. To Mount It You Will Need Two M5X30Mm Screws. Update 2-Feb-2017: Added Video Streaming Script. The Description Is On The Bottom Of This Page.
