Fly6[v] Rear Bike Rack Bracket
Description
The New Version Of The Fly6 Rear Bike Camera From Cycliq (A Great Product!) Is The Fly6[V] (As Of September 2016) And It Uses A Simple Velcro Strap That Is Incompatible With Previous Fly6 Mounts. This Is An Awesome Mounting Solution For The Back Of A Seatpost, But I Ride With Large Bags On A Rear Rack That Obscure The View. This Bracket Is Compatible With Rear Bike Rack Mounts That Have 2 Holes With 2" Spacing, And I'Ve Added Two More Holes That Are Also On My Topeak Rack. The Holes Are Designed For M5 Socket Head Cap Screws. I Plan To Use It With A Simple Little Tether (Maybe Zip Ties Around The Rack And Light With A Carabiner) In Case The Mount Fails On The Road. 5Mm Of The "Strong And Flexible" Material Is Very Robust Though -- I Couldn'T Crack Or Flex It By Pushing On The Middle While Pulling Down On Both Wings Very Hard. Still, It Could Become Far More Brittle Outdoors With Constant Vibrations, So It'S Best To Be Safe With A Tether. I Really Like Having The Strap Go Through A Slot For Security (So There'S No Way The Camera Can Slide Off The Top) But You Can'T Pull A Hooked Strap Past The Loop Part Of The Hook And Loop Fastener. I Solved That Problem With A Bit Of Tape Defeating The Loop Area Inside The Slot (Shown In The Picture). Ideally, You'D Simply Design The Hook And Loop Strap To Avoid That Area, But It'S Not Worth My Time. Anyway, The Tape Is Hidden Between The Straps And Inside The Slot, So It Won'T Get Dirty Or Weathered Or Otherwise Look Bad. Here'S A Link To The Bracket At Shapeways. I'Ve Marked It Up $0.57 To See If I Can Recoup The Cost Of My First Failed Version, But Feel Free To Download The Files And Have It Printed Yourself If You'D Prefer. <Iframe Width="625" Height="652" Frameborder="0" Allowfullscreen Allowtransparency Src="//Www.Shapeways.Com/Fragments/Product?Spin=Hkk7A7Ulk"></Iframe> I Strongly Suggest Printing In Black Material To Help With Uv Protection (The Black Coloring Blocks Uv At Or Near The Surface). I Chose The "Strong And Flexible" Nylon Material From Shapeways. Abs Or Pla Will Likely Work All Right, But Definitely Rig Up A Tether As Uv Exposure Will Break Them Down Faster (Hundreds Of Times Faster If The Bike Is Stored In The Sun!)
