DSLR Rain Shield
Description
This Is A 3D Printed Case For My Nikon D3200 (Although It Would Probably Work For Most Dslrs). This Case Protects The Camera From Rain And Acts As A Theft Deterrent, Allowing A Camera Setup To Be Left Unattended While Taking A Time-Lapse. The Case Is Waterproof And Very Sturdy. I Use [This Cable](Https://Www.Amazon.Com/Gp/Product/B00004Y8Df/Ref=Ox_Sc_Sfl_Title_18?Ie=Utf8&Psc=1&Smid=Atvpdkikx0Der) To Secure The Case To The Camera And To The Tripod. It Took Several Attempts To Discover The Configuration That Works Securely. I Then Use A Bicycle Chain/Lock To Secure My Tripod To Something Fixed. You Can Read About My Prototype Process At: Http://Imgur.Com/A/Rxngk I Have Now Used This Setup To Take Time-Lapses In Sun, Rain, And Snow Without Issue. Note On Snowy Time-Lapses: Cold Temperatures (<32F) Have A Dramatic Negative Impact On Battery Life. Batteries In The Cold Die Much More Quickly Than At Room Temperature. You Can Wedge A [Hand Warmer](Https://Www.Amazon.Com/Hothands-Hand-Warmers/Dp/B00Px20Lo0) In Between The Right Side Of The Camera (Where The Battery Is) And This Case. The Warmer Provides Sufficient Heat To Keep The Battery Operating At Much More Normal Levels, But Isn'T Warm Enough To Melt The Plastic Or Feel Warm From The Outside Of The Case.
