Eddy Current Brake for Aluminum bike rollers
Description
Warning: Please Exercise Extreme Caution With Neodymium Permanent Magnets. A 1" Cube Magnet Has A Pull-Force Of ~30-40Lbs, If You Have 2 Of Them Stuck Together, They Could Do Some Serious Damage To Your Fingers, Not To Mention They Would Be Extremely Hard To Separate. They Are Also Very Brittle, So They Could Crack And Chip When They Snap Together. If You Own A Set Of Aluminum Bike Rollers And Feel They Do Not Have Enough Resistance For A Good Workout, This Will Add Significant Resistance. I Only Needed 1 Cube Magnet But You Can Add 2 If You Feel It'S Not Enough. With 1 (N52), I Was Able To Get ~250 Watts At 15Mph And The Resistance Is Exponential With Speed. I Used A Credit Card To Space The Magnet About 1Mm From The Roller. These Will Work On A Set Of Trutrainer Rollers But You Can Adjust The Bracket Size For Other Rollers. This Will Not Work On Rollers That Are Not Made Of Metal. The Downside Of The Brake Is That The Coast Down Time Will Decrease And The Roller Will Heat Up As It Dissipates The Power Generated. You Will Also Need 1 Or 2 1" Cube Magnets, A 1" Long 1/4" Screw/Bolt And A Matching Nut Or Wingnut
