Description
This Thing Improved My Prints And Enabled Me To Print On The Whole Bed, Where A Print Would Use The Whole Surface. Can'T Stress The Fact Big Enough About How Easy It Is With This Way Of Leveling The Bed. These Cheap Harbor Freight Dial Indicators Are The Ticket To Quick, Easy, And Better Than Any Way Yet I'Ve Found. This Fits The Harbor Freight Analog Dial Indicator 1 Inch Travel. The Barrel Is 3/8Th Inches At The Top And Is 7/8 Inches Of The Barrel Down And Then The Plunger Goes Further Down From There. Will Get The Part Number On It And Update It On Here Later. If You Spent What You Did For All That You Need To Build Or Buy A 3D Printer And Skimp On The Cheap Side On A 10 Buck Item That Will Remove Some Of The Most Hardest To Find And Fix Problems On Getting Good Prints, Then Your Selling Your Printer Way To Short. A Good Level Bed Will Make Prints That Stick To The Bed So Much Easyer. Also Keep You From Having To Squssh The First Layer To The Point Where You Can Get Much Better Fine Prints Without As Much Scraping And Finishing After Prints. I Did Not Have Any Magnets And After Studying How To Best Do This Tool With Out Them, I Realized How Heavy These Dial Indicators Are. They Are Heavy Enough To Push The Springed Plunger Down And Set Fine With Out The Magnets. I Set Mine On The X-Axis And Grab The Front Rod And Indicator Bracket And Pivot The Indicator Up And Down A Few Times To Get A Nice Reading And Adjust From There. It Seems To Do Much Better That Way. No Need For Magnets, Maybe Better. If You Have A Bed That Springs Out With The Spring Of These Indicators, You Got Bigger Problems Than Your Bed Out Of Level. Believe Me These Cheap, Yet Great Little Indicators Have Such A Light Spring In Them That A Good Bed Setup Should Not Budge Holding The Pressure Of Them. Like I Said The Weight Of The Indicator Will Push Itself Down The Whole 1 Inch Of Travel. I Don'T Think People Realize That The Bed Has To Be In Nearest Perfect Alignment With The X-Rods. (The Rods The Extruder Rides On) With This Task And The Dial Indicator, It Is Easy To Do. 1) Move The Bed As Far Forward As To Let The Indicator Tip Set About A Quarter Inch Inward Toward The Middle From The Bed Support Screw. Start With The Right Back Bed Support Screw And Then Move Over To The Left Back Support Screw. 2) Remember That The Left And Right Threaded Rods Play A Huge Part In The Bed Running Parallel To The X-Axis. So Get The Bed Level Best You Can, But A Large Movement Can Be Done By Just Dropping Or Lifting The X-Axis With The Threaded Rods. Any Way You Can Get The Back Of The Bed Running Parallel With The X-Axis You Have To Do It. 3) Next Move The Bed As To Do The Same On The Front Two Bed Support Screws. But Do Not Touch The Threaded Rods Adjustment, Leave Them Where You Set The Back At And Adjust Only The Front Bed Support Screws. 4) Now You Have The Best Level Bed You Have Ever Had, A Near Guarantee. Just Don'T Forget To Calibrate The Bed For Printing With The Calibration Script In Sf. Hope You Enjoy This Tool As Much As I Did, Want Need It Again Until I Do Something To Knock It Out. Well Worth The Print Time.
