LED Dice
Description
This Dice Is Designed To Hold 5Mm Leds Inside The Dice Points That Light Up When The Side They Are On Is Facing Up. Inside The Dice Is A Chamber That Holds A 10Mm Steel Ball Which Acts As A Contact For Blank Wires On The Side Of The Chamber. Wired Correctly This Acts As An Orientation Sensor. The Inner Chamber Is Constructed Out Of Two Identical Parts, So You Need Two Prints Of That Part. Place A Steel Ball Inside And Run Blank Wires Through The Holes So That The Steel Ball Makes An Electric Connection Between Two Wires When Resting Inside One Of The Corners. The Steel Ball Chamber Is Supported By Four Clamps So You Need To Print Four Of That Part. The Steel Ball Chamber Is Already Updated, The Photos Still Show An Earlier Version, It Was Very Hard To Get The Chamber Aligned In The Dice So I Designed A Groove For The Clamps That Hold Them In Place. Make Sure That The Contacts In Each Corner Work Before Gluing The Chamber Together And Placing It Inside The Dice! There Are Three Versions Of The Dice Points, Depending On How Bright Your Leds Are Or How Bright You Want The Points To Glow. I Would Suggest To Print One Of Each And Try Out Each Design. The Side Panels Have To Be Printed With Supports, It Depends On How Good The Surface Over Supports Are On What Side Should Be On The Bottom. I Placed The Outsides Of The Dice On The Bottom To Get A Very Smooth Surface. The Dice Points Should Push Fit Into The Side Panels, If They Are To Loose They Should Be Glued Too. The Side Panels Have To Be Glued Inside The Frame, And The Frame Is The Glued Together From Its Two Parts. Before Gluing The Side Panels To The Frame The Wires Have To Be Soldered. Dice Panel 6 Holds The Batteries And Also A Switch To Turn The Dice On/Off. Use Regular Battery Contacts For The Battery Box. Since The Battery Box Holds Two Aaa Batteries The Voltage Is Only 3V, So The Leds Can Be Wired In Parallel. If You Need Higher Voltage A Boost Converter Might Also Fit In The Dice. Use The Contacts On The Steel Ball Chamber Opposite Of Each Dice Panel To Switch The Leds On/Off To Make Sure The Leds On The Top Side Of The Dice Are Lit. Wiring Gets A Little Bit Chaotic So I Did Not Include A Photo Showing It. I Hope My Description Is Understandable So Far, If You Have Any Questions Feel Free To Ask ;)
