E3D V6 Adapter for MeCreator 2

E3D V6 Adapter for MeCreator 2

Description

Adapter Baseplate And Bracket To Mount The Mk8 Extruder Of The Mecreator 2 Directly To The Genuine E3D V6 Hot End. Big Thanks To Http://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1895072 For The Inspiration! Warning: Modifications To The Mk8 Extruder Are Necessary, And A Solution For A Part Cooling Fan Has To Be Found, If One Should Be Required. Use At Your Own Risk, No Requests For Support Or For Modified Versions Please. It'S Not An Easy Bolt-On, But For Me It Was Well Worth It. A Part Cooling Fan Can Certainly Be Fitted, But I Don'T Need One. What I Also Like Is The Open Access To The Extruder For Maintenance And Cooling. Mecreator 2 Disassembly: - Take Off The Part Cooler, Heatsink And Stepper - Unscrew The Heatsink Base Plate With The Two Screws From Underneath - Loosen The Grub Screws And Pull The Heater And The Thermistor Out Of The Stock Hot End, But Keep Them There - They Will Be Re-Used - The Whole Extruder And Hot End Assembly Is Now Removed Modifications - Take The Printed Parts And Bore The Second Stepper Mounting Holes Out With 2Mm, Then With 3Mm Drill (These Holes Exit Too Close To The V6 Bracket Position To Be Printed) - If Necessary, Cut And Grind The Lower Part Of The Mk8 Extruder So That The V6 Direct Heat Sink Has Enough Space To Be Mounted, With Its Plastic Retainer On Top - Sand Printed Baseplate To Get A Smooth And Stable Mounting Surface Assembly: - Screw Printed Baseplate Onto Carriage With Two 3 Mm Self-Tapping Screws Of Suitable Length From Underneath. The Screws Hold Directly Inside The Plastic. Two Of The Fan Mounting Screws From The V6 Part Cooler Might Be An Option. - Pre-Assemble V6 Heat Sink And Slide In A Piece Of Teflon Tube That Ends Flush With The Plastic Retainer Ring On Top - Insert V6 Heat Sink Into Printed Baseplate, Position Stepper And Screw It All Together With The Printed Bracket And M3 Screws Of Suitable Length - Slide The Existing Heater Cartridge Into The V6 Hot End - If Cable Is Too Short, Remove The Cable Cover, There Should Be Some Spare Cable - Slide The Existing Thermistor Into The V6 Hot End, Or Replace With Whatever You Like - Replace The Heatsink Cooler Fan With The V6 Fan - The Tach Signal Wire Can Be Cut And Left Open - Pop Heatsink Cooler Shroud On From The Left Side
