Child's Knife Finger Guard
Description
# Child'S Knife Finger Guard Author: Donald L. Merand # What Is It? If You Have A Child Who'S Learning How To Use A Knife In The Kitchen, This Little Device Will Help Them Learn Proper Left-Hand Technique Without Cutting Their Fingers! My [Model](Https://Cad.Onshape.Com/Documents/902F3D862C46D4122C7A7846/W/Ee2Ab117C6F1412F8Ee6A058/E/Be0Eea8A18Aee97C8312Fd03), Designed In Onshape, Is Fully Customizable If You Want To Fiddle With It. This Project Is Very Much Inspired By [This Finger Guard](Https://Www.Amazon.Com/Opinel-Petit-Childs-Knife-Finger/Dp/B00Gt57Oea/). I Made My Own Because I Wanted A Specific Size And Shape Customized To My Kid'S Fingers, And Also Because Hot Pink Wasn'T A Color Option ;) Accordingly, This Model Is Sized For A 6-Year-Old'S Fingers, And You Might Need To Resize The Finger Holders If You Have An Older Kid. By The Way, The Black Rubbery Stuff You See On The Inside Is [This High-Friction Rubber Material](Http://Www.Leevalley.Com/Us/Wood/Page.Aspx?P=67844&Cat=1,43456,43465) That I Purchased At Lee Valley Years Ago. It Helps For Knuckle Comfort On The Inside. You Should Get Some, Because It'S Way More Useful Than You'D Think. I Use It [All The Time](Http://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1426430)! # How Do I Make One? My Recommendation Is To 3D Print In A Food-Safe Plastic, Though Standard Pla Is Probably Fine Too Because This Won'T Really Be Coming In Contact With Anything But Your Child'S Hands If It'S Being Used Correctly. I Printed Mine At A Layer Height Of 0.2Mm, With Supports Under The Little Finger Guards, In The Default Orientation, And It Worked Perfectly On The First Try!
