Hinged Extruder Cooler - Anet A8

Hinged Extruder Cooler - Anet A8

Description

Looking Through Things For The Extruder Cooling Fan, I Saw Many Options. I Had An Idea Of What I Wanted To Do, So I Started With A Couple Of Objects I Found Here. Something With A Hinge Would Give Me Ready Access But Nothing Suited Me. So, I Imported Some Stuff Into Sketchup And Started Working On It. I Had Already Cut The Heat Sink, Leaving The Bottom Five Ribs Mounted To The Extruder Frame. This Took Care Of Helping Keep The Heat Away From The Filament But I Knew I Should Have More Air Flow. I Checked The Heat Load Routinely With A Laser Thermometer And It Wasn'T Too Bad. But, I Still Wanted To Get The Fan Back In Operation. I Went Through About Six Iterations Of This Design Before Getting Something I Like. The Bottom Portion Of The Fan Mount Allows Cooling Air To Reach The Heat Sink. The Brace Across The Width Of The Mount Lets It Sit On The Heat Sink For Stability. The Upper Area Allows For Plenty Of Air Flow Over The Filament And Gear Assembly, Letting The Warm Air Escape From The Top.
