Extended Spool Holder With Bearings, Frictionless

Extended Spool Holder With Bearings, Frictionless

Description

I Was Looking For Something With Less Friction Than Normal Spool Mounts, Stay Pretty Universal Across Different Sized Rolls, Multiple Mounting Options, Easy To Print With No Supports. Couldn'T Find What I Had In Mind, So I Made This! This Is A Direct Replacement For The Monoprice Maker Select (As Well As All The Clones) So You Can Use The Wider Monoprice Spools. Because Of The Simplicity, Other Mounts Can Easily Be Made For This Spool. After I Moved My Printers To Some Bakers Racks I Easily Ran Some Coat Hangers. This Should Help With Some Print Quality Issues Some May Have. As The Printer Is Printing Along The X Axis It Will Pull On The Filament. If The Filament It Tight It Will Actually Lift Up On The Print Head While Its Printing (Not Good). When The Spool Is Mounted Right Above The Printer As Shown. As I Load The Filament, I Make A Loop And Then Feed It Into The Printer. This Creates A Natural Spring From The Memory Curve In The Roll. Now As The Print Head Is Printing Along The X Axis The Filament Can Easily Be Stretched Which No Longer Lifts Up On The Print Head. Also As The Filament Is Being Used Up, The Spring Of The Filament Forces It To Unroll To Maintain The "Spring". Ill Work On Uploading A Video. But Until I Can Get A Timelapse Set Up, I Included A Pic Of A Finished 28Hr Print. 2 In A Row With Zero Issues From The Frictionless Spool Holder. Parts Required 5/16" X 5" Bolt 1 X 5/16" Nylock Nuts 2 X 608 Bearings (8X22X7Mm) Glue (Nuts And Bolt Can Be Substituted For Metric 8Mm Equivalents) Simple Instructions: 1. Push A Bearing Into Both Ends Of The Spool Holder. 2. Apply Some Glue And Press On The Other Flanged End. 3. Assemble As Shows. The Spacer Goes Between The Red/Green Pieces, Don'T Over Tighten The Nut. 4. Remove Your Old Spool Holder And Install Your New One!
