Centrifugal Fan 12 v
Description
Hi This Is A Simple 12Vdc Centrifugal Fan With Backward Curved Impellers (Make Sure You Get The Polarity Correct! This Will Maximize The Airflow And Efficiency. To Further Maximize Efficiency And Reduce Noise, Get A Motor With 6 Stators, I Use A Motor With 4 Stators And It Works Fine, If A Little Noisy. This Puts About The Same Amount Of Air For Me As A Hairdryer On Low Setting. I Plan To Add A Bell Inlet To Improve Efficiency Further. Stay Tuned For Updates! I Got The Motor From Princess Auto And Had To Dremel Out The Hub To Be Able To Persuade The Impeller Onto The Shaft. The Bottom Plate Is Extra Thick, While The Shell Is Thinner To Save On Printing. Three Screws Hold The Fan Together, If Your Motor Mount Plate Is Warped, You Will Have An Issue With The Blades Hitting The Casing. Enjoy! 2018-02-05 Update! Added A Transition Piece To Fit 4" Circular Ducting, And Also A Bell Inlet That Has Been Optimized To Minimize Intake Losses Giving A Marginal Improvement To Cfm. The Fan Has Been Tested Now Using A Vane Anemometer And Produces At Least 30 Cfm. (There May Be Some Leaks As I Checked Outlet Flow Running Through A Solar Air Heater I Built!).
