This Does Need A Mk8 (E3D Hobb-Goblin Recommended) Gear To Function. It Will Not Work With The Stock Spur Gear. ***About This Block** This Is A Block That Aims To Completely Lock Down The Filament From The Second It Touches The Drive Gear Until It Gets Extruded Out Of The Hot End. This Allows It To Successfully Extrude At High Speeds Standard And Flexible Filaments Alike. There Are No Springs To Adjust Tension, As The Pressure From The 608Zz Bearing Will Be Controlled By Four (4) M3X.5X45Mm Screws. Works Well At High And Low Speeds And Has Very Good Filament Grip. *Materials Required***** --Printed 1X Upper Block 1X Lower Block 1X Axle --Purchased 1X Mk8 5Mm Id 8Mm Od Hobbed Gear 1X 608Zz Bearing 4X M3X.5X30Mm 4X M3X.5X50Mm Screws 4X M3 Nuts 1-2 Pneumatic 10Mm Od Bowden Adapters. The Block Is Designed To Be Tapped And These Will Screw In. **Printing Instructions*** Print At Your Normal "Quality" Speeds Without Supports It Works Well At 25% Infill 3 Shells 3 Upper And Bottom Layers. *****Assembly Instructions**** 1) Mount The 608Zz Bearing On The Axle. 2) Place The Axle In The Slot In The Upper Block. 3) Slide The Mk8 Gear On To The Shaft Of The Nema 17 Stepper. Slightly Tighten Set Screw. 4) Fasten The Lower Block To The Nema 17 Motor Using The M3X.5X30 Screws Using The Front-Facing Holes. 5) Position The Mk8 Gear So That The Teeth Align With The Filament Channel. Tighten The Set Screw(S) 6) Place The Upper Block Assembly In The Lower Block With The Slot Facing Down Onto The Lower Block So That The Bearing Fits In The Groove. 7) Slide The M3 50Mm Screws Starting From The Upper Block Through The Entire Assembly. Fasten With The M3 Nuts On The Other End. Do Not Tighten. If You Tighten Before You Have Filament In The Drive, You Will Have A Bad Time. You Now Have A Fully Assembled Block. To Begin Extruding, Thread The Filament Through The Block So That You See Filament On The Other Side. With The Gear Turning, Tighten The Long Screws Rotating Around The Top Of The Block Until Filament Starts To Move. Tighten All Screws To This Tension, And Then Give The Screws 1-2 More Complete Revolutions To Ensure That It Will Extrude Properly. Flexible Filaments May Require Additional Revolutions To Properly Extrude. At This Point, Happy Printing!
