220g Direct Feed Extruder!

Description

Hey Guys! So Recently I Designed My Own Custom Print Head For My Prusa Clone (You Can Find It Here: Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:2404246 ). That Print Head Has Been Working Amazingly Since I Installed It, However I Love A Challenge And I Never Stop Trying To Improve On My Designs. Not Long After I Uploaded My Print Head Designs A Fellow Printer Enthusiast Commented, Telling Me Of His Design And How His Only Weighed 223G. The Only Problem With His Design Is That It Used Hard To Source Parts And Overall The Instructions Looked Incomplete. This Inspired Me To Design A Lighter, Faster, More Elegant Print Head That When Completed Will Weigh Lighter Than 220G. (Without A Part-Cooling Fan) So Without Further Ado, I Give You The Cph2. This Design Saves Weight By Not Only Replacing The Aluminum Plates Of The Pancake Stepper With Lighter Pet-G Plates, But Also By Combining The Frame Of A Titan Extruder With The Front Motor Plate Itself. This Isn'T The Only Weight Saving Technique Though. Because I'M Going For The Most Elegant And Slim Design, I'Ve Decided To Modify The Titan'S Hot End Clamp. This Saves Plastic, Which In Turn Shaves Off Valuable Grams. Also, Because Of This New, Strange Hotend Mount I Have To Make My Own Hotend Out Of V6 Parts And Aluminum Bar Stock. This Again Will Save On The Overall Weight. Not Only Does This Save On Weight, But Because My Hotend Design Is Smaller And Closer To The Carriage, There Is Less Space Between The X Rails And The Nozzle. In Order For This To Work For You, You'Ll Need Some Specific Parts. First Of All, You Will Need The Guts Of A Titan Extruder. Also, You Will Need This Stepper Motor: Https://Www.Amazon.Com/Dp/B00Pneq79Q/_Encoding=Utf8?Coliid=I3Kfldell4X77U&Colid=200Bt7Uihrj06 Due To The Small Variance Of The Inside Of Stepper Motors, I Can Not Guarantee That Any Other Pancake Stepper Will Work. This Particular Project Is Designed Specifically For My Printer (Geeetech I3 Pro B With Metal Parts) But If I Get Interest In The Comments From Other Hobbyists Looking At Making This Design I'Ll Be More Than Happy To Upload Files For This Print Head To Mount Onto Any Prusa Or Anet Style Printer. Although This Is A Work In Progress And The Files Will Be Changing Slightly Over Time Until I'M Happy With It, This Will Currently Work As It Is. (Except I Haven'T Tested The Hotend Design Yet) If You Decide To Try Your Hand At Making This, Make Sure To Print All Of The Parts Except The "Heat Sink.Stl". That Is The Design Of The Heat Sink Needed To Build The Hot End And That Needs To Be Machined Out Of Aluminum Stock. (Once I Build My First Hot End I'D Be More Than Happy To Sell The Heat Sinks To Anyone Who Needs One And Isn'T Able To Fabricate One Themselves.) Also, If You Are Looking For The Part-Cooling Fan Mounts, You Can Find Them Over At My Other Print Head (Link Above). Oh, And As For The Fan On The Heat Sink, Currently I'M Using A Dab Of Hot Glue But I Will Soon Have A More Permanent Way Of Mounting It. Thank'S For Checking This Out And Make Sure To Come Back After It'S Finished! Xd
