Modular Pyramid Kit
Description
A Set Of Pieces For Building Scalable Pyramid (Octahedral) Networks Using Widely Available Wooden Skewers (Barbecue Sticks). Don'T Hesitate To Resize The Designs Depending On Available Material, The Files Use 4Mm Holes For 3Mm Skewers (Diameter) But This Might Vary According To Printer Precision. With 3.5Mm Skewers I Used 4.5Mm Holes, So I Resized The Pieces By +1/8Th (Times 1.125). Pieces Required (Depending On Pyramid Size): - Level 1: 1 Top And 4 Angles - Level 2: An Extra 4 Edges, 4 Sides And 1 Bottom - Level 3: An Extra 4 Edges, 4 Sides, 4 Faces, 3 Bottoms, And 1 Center Each Extra N-Th Level Will Require An Extra (N+1)^2 Pieces, Of Type Edge, Side, Face, Bottom And Center... Once You Get The Hang Of It, You Will Be Able To Calculate The Quantities. I'M Thinking Of Running A Permanent Contest Of The Biggest Pyramid That Was Actually Realised,So Don'T Hesitate To Send Your Photos (I'M Stopping At Level 3 As You Can See From The Photos). I'Ll Be Glad To Hear From You ! Pieces Don'T Need Support, Or A Brim (If You Have Good Adhesion), Except For The Center Piece (Which Has Tubes All Round, By Necessity). New Feature: Triangular-Based Pyramids: These Require The Tri-Corner And Tri-Edge Pieces. I Just Tested It And It Seems To Work Fine. - Level 1: 4 Tri-Corner - Level 2: An Extra 6 Tri-Edge - Level 3: An Extra 6 Tri-Edge And 4 Face (The Regular Kind) - Level 4: An Extra 6 Tri-Edge, 8 Face And 1 Center Actually It'S The Same Kind Of Network, Just Rotated, So There'S Probably Plenty Of Hybrids That Are Achievable From The Same Pieces. If You Need One That Isn'T Here, Please Let Me Know, It Can Be Made In A Minute ! Another New Feature (On The Triangle-Based Pyramid): Little Shelves That Fit On The (Horizontal) Triangular Cells, So That Small Objects Can Be Arranged Inside... Makes An Interesting Shelf Structure For Small Objects. Designed For 7Cm Sticks And 9Mm Nodes (Scale Factor 1.125). Don'T Hesitate To Rescale Them To Your Needs, Should Work Anyway If Sticks Are Long Enough (At Least A Third Of Node Distance Must Be Exposed).
