Wanhao D6/Monoprice Ultimate - 50x15mm blower duct - revision 3

Description

This Is An Improved Cooling Solution For A Wanhao Duplicator 6 (D6) / Monoprice Ultimate. This Blower Duct Is Small And Simple: It Channels The Airflow To A Smaller Cross-Section To Increase The Air Speed, And Directs The Focused Airflow At The Extrusion Point While Avoiding Cooling Of The Whole Metal Block (And Thus Avoiding Bad Heating Errors). You Will Want To Slowly Ramp Up The Fan Speed, Or Else You Will Overcool And Force The Firmware To Terminate The Print (Respond As Though The Heating Element Is Broken). For Instance, I Ramp The Fan Speed To At Least 65%, But Over ~14 0.1Mm Layers -- I Tell Cura To Ramp The Fan Speed Over 1.5 Mm. Then, The Printer Can Handle Much Faster Fan Speeds. Tighten The Nuts Sufficiently (But Not So Much To Crack The Plastic Blower Casing) To Keep The Blower From Turning. Important: Large Diameter Washers/Large Diameter Nuts Prevent The Blower Case From Splitting As You Tighten The Assembly To Fix It In Place. I Printed The Part So That If Air Were Flowing Through It, It Would Be Blowing Upward. I Purchased Exactly This Blower (Link Below)...It Has The Proper Electrical Connector Already, Runs At The Necessary 24V, Is Rather Powerful, Is Very Quiet, And Of Course Is Reasonably Inexpensive. Regarding Versions V1 Is No Longer Posted. The File Had A Few Small Annoyances That Showed Up In The Prints. V2 Is The Simple Duct, Designed So That There Is One Bolt To Mount The Fan To The Heat Sink. V3 Is V2 Plus An Extra Small Arm That Attaches To The Heat Sink In An Additional Location, Right Above The Nozzle. It Is Still Convenient To Print. But A Word Of Warning...It Is Hard To Remove The Screw -- The Factory Made Them Tight. I Had To Drill Mine Out And Use A Replacement Screw. In The End, I Like The Assurance That The Fan Will Not Rotate If A Single Bolt And Nuts Loosen.
