Mod X Carriage with Stock Head and Adjustable Sensor Mount
Description
Well, I'Ve Been Trying To Collect All The Right Parts To Upgrade The Spider, But As I'M Printing And Learning, And Finding My Limitations, I Discovered That There Aren'T Quite The Exact Upgrades That I Now Believe I Need To Make. I'M New To Printing, Just Over A Month, And I;Ve Been Thinking And Reading Of Other New Makers Needs And Experiences Also. Having Been An Industrial Cnc Tech, I Know The Need For Adjustability, Functionality, Adjustability, Serviceability, Ect, Did I Mention Adjustability?..... So I Am Working On New Tarantula Owners Upgrades. Sounds Better Than Stuff Newbies Can Print, Right? My Idea Is To Be Able To Print Upgrades Easily. No Supports, Ez Bridging, Modular, Functional, And With This One In Particular I Wanted To Be Able To See My Nozzle Printing. I'Ve Learned A Lot From Watching Prints Grow. Slightly Faster Than Grass, So That'S Kool, But People Do Think Your A Bit Loony For Staring At A Machine Making Weird Noises... So With The Bla Bla Out Of The Way, I Took A Bunch Of Other Guys Stuff Cause I Thought It Was Really Kool And Tweaked It Out A Bit, Threw It Into 123Design, Spunit Around A Bit And This Stuff Came Out. I Used The Tevo Tarantula Modular X W/ Bltouch By Montymintypie, Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:2007048 As A Start, I Really Think The Belt Locks Are Great, And As This Is For New Owners, Not Newbs, Like Me, I Made This For Stock Equipment. So I Filled In The Bl Mount And Added The Drag Chain Mount From Maxdarkdog, Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:2396718 I Remixed The Chain Mount To Have Backstops For The Chain So It Doesn'T Droop And .25Mm Supports Under The Bridging Section, They Break Out And Clean Up Real Ez. Even When I'M Dialed In And Bridging Nicely, The Supports Keep It Real Clean. And I'Ve Had Layer Adhesion Issues Due To Rough Spots In Dodgy Bridging. So, It Has Micro Supports. I Can'T Stand The Way Slicers Generate Supports Anyway. Next We Have The Modular X Stock Head From Thingirob, Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:1438795 To Which Was Added A Parametric Slide Mount From Ken_Applications Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:2015855 And Designed To Hold The Green Stock Sensor. The Sensor Is Minutely Adjustable By The Turn Of An Allen Wrench. Makes That First Layer Ez To Get Right. Also I Threw In Half Of The Fan Duct By Juangv Https://Www.Thingiverse.Com/Thing:236813 It'S Cut In Half Because The Sensor Is On The Other Side. In Was Having A Problem With The Belt Locks Teeth Not Coming Out Right In The Slicers No Matter What I Did, I Dunno. So, I Scaled Them In Slic3R To 105%, And Shortened Them A Little In 123Design. You Can See In The Pics The 105% Scaled Part Fits The Teeth In The Belt Perfectly, But Just Didn'T Sit Right, As You Can See The New Ones Sit Tight. Yes, One Is Shorter Than The Other Because It'S Under The Drag Chain. If It;S In Anyone'S Way, Let Me Know And I'Ll Shorten It Up A Bit More For Ya. The Slide And Carrier Are Meant To Print Upright, All This Should Be Able To Print Flat, No Supports, And If Your Still Playing With Settings It Should Still Be Workable. The Slide And Carrier Are Very Tight. It;S On Purpose, The Layer Lines Will Bind It Up. Having To Work It Gently Makes It Smooth. Don'T Overwork It, You Want It Smooth, Not Sloppy. It;S Not Perfect, Please Let Me Know If You Have Problems With It. And For Those New To 3D Printing Owners Of A Tarantula, Stay Tuned I'Ve Made Maxdarkdog'S Xyz Chain Easier For Us To Print Too, As Soon As I Get The Files Organized I'Ll Post It. Thanks All Hope You Can Use It, I Will Be! I Also Added A Complete Set, Minus Fan Duct, With A Cooling Tower. I Will Help Keep The Dimensions On The Tall Skinny Pieces. Update: Had A Problem With The Fan Duct Sagging At Abs Bed Temps.By The Second Layer. So, I Beefed It Up, It Might Not Be Elegant, But It Seems To Be Working. I'M Printing Business Card Puzzles. It'S Been Right On Top Of The Bed For 45Min, And It;S Solid. Already Replaced The File. Happy Printing!
