I Was Asked By A Friend To Create A Ring That Would Guide His Drywall Crew To Precisely Position His Home Theater Speakers. Since The Speakers Are Exceptionally Large (10") He Was Unable To Locate A Suitable Mounting Ring At A Reasonable Cost. The Ring As Posted Will Provide A 10.769" Guide Hole For A 10.75" Speaker Frame. Overall Cost Was About $10 A Frame, Probably Less But I Had A Few Repeats Due To Edge Warping. There Are Two Versions Of The Large Frame, Sometimes The Edge Would Lift During The Long Print So I Added An 'Overprint' Area To Keep Things Flat. For Those Of You Lucky Few Who Do Not Have The Occasional Lifted Corner Or Edge I'Ve Included A Stripped Version Of Just The Frame. I Recommend Printing The Mounts Vertically To Avoid The Need For Support Material That Is Difficult To Remove In Tight Spaces. Two Half Frames Make A Whole, Use 3/8" Long #8 Screws To Attach The Mounting Spacers To The Assembled Frames. When Installing In The Rafters Adjust The Position Of The Metal Stringers Where The Bottom Of The Ring Will Be At The Finished Height Of The Exposed Drywall. The Frame Is Just A Guide For The Drywall Installation, It Does Not Provide Sufficient Strength To Support A Speaker On It'S Own. Once The Drywall If Fitted To The Guide And The Gap Between The Guide And Drywall Is Filled The Drywall Will Take The Weight Of The Speaker.
